GEORGE WICKS.
July 3d, 1900, Mr. George Wicks, aged 67 years, 11 months and 19 days, passed to his eternal home.
Mr. Wicks was born in London, England. His parents moved to Canada shortly after his birth and there he resided until 1865, when he moved to Burr Oak, Iowa, where he has lived ever since, with the exception of three years in Nebraska. He was married in 1859 to Miss Elizabeth Potter, who died five years ago. Last winter while chopping wood he had the misfortune to get a leg broken by a falling tree, and since then his health and also his mind gradually failed. About two weeks before his death he was taken to the hospital In Independence, where he died. He had long been an active member of the Advent Christian church, and much of the time either Superintendent of the S. S. or teacher of the Bible class.
He leaves two sons, John and Robert. The funeral was held in Burr Oak, conducted by Elder Ridley, and the remains were laid to rest by his wife in Burr Oak cemetery.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born July 16, 1832.
