On the 22d Mrs. Emma Perry, after an illness of over three years, passed away, aged 46 years, 2 months and 11 days. She was born in Upper Canada and when only a small child came to Winnesheik county, where she has lived ever since. She was more than the ordinary woman, quick to see and understand everything. No matter what she undertook she could do it well, and was never so happy as when her hands were busy with some fine piece of work. She has been a great sufferer with dropsy and heart trouble. Tongue can never express her sufferings. Seldom giving up, but with a hope and patience born from a happy disposition, she looked on the sunny side and would have gladly lived in the world she helped to make brighter and better. When her physician told her there was no hope she expressed her willingness to go, and almost her last words were, “Glory! glory! This is dying.” She was a member of the Methodist church. Her funeral was held at Burr Oak, Rev Cummings officiating. She leaves a husband, one son, a mother, one sister and one brother, besides a large number of friends. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones.
