Brief mention was made last week of the departure of the Hopperstad brothers for Capron, Ill., to the funeral of a beloved mother, Britha Hopperstad, (born Hove,) was born near Bergen, Norway, in 1834, but with her parents when only ten years old became one of the earliest comers to this country, and settled near Capron, where she died on the 20th, in her 66th year. In 1855 she was married, and became the mother of fourteen children, all of whom grow to man- and womanhood, and twelve of whom and the aged father survive her. She was an old-fashioned mother who rejoiced in her large family; and when death first came into it she was grieved at what she regarded as a frowning Providence. Appoplexy was the cause of her death:— she never spoke after the stroke came.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in Long Prairie Cemetery in Capron, IL.
