Word was received Tuesday morning of the death at his home in the northern part of the county of the father of city attorney Dan Shea. We are without data concerning Mr. Shea’s life, but he was one of the old residents of the county.

Jeremiah Shea, who died last week Tuesday at his home in Burr Oak township, was born near the Lakes of Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland, in 1825. In 1849 he came to America and settled at Schenectady, N. Y. Here in the year 1852 he was married to Kathrine Donlan, and in 1856 they moved to Racine Co., Wis. After a residence of thirteen years there they came to this (Winnesheik) county. It was on the 17th of March, 1869, that Mr. Shea and his son Dan arrived in Decorah, The family took up their residence in Burr Oak township at once, and three years later Mr. Shea purchased the farm where he died. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Shea, six of whom survive. They are Dan, of Decorah: J. C., of St. Paul; M. R, of Everett, Wash.; T. H., of Kalispell, Mont.; J. Q., who is at home, and Mrs. Mary Mullaney, of Orleans township. The funeral was held last Thursday, Rev. Father Norris, of Calmar, officiating, and the remains were laid at rest in the Catholic cemetery in Burr Oak township.
