Esther Adelia Plato
On Tuesday morning Miss Adelia Plato, who made her home with Mrs. O.P. Barker and family, arose as usual, built the kitchen fire, and then called the other members of the family, complaining that she did not feel well. Her condition grew worse rapidly and she passed away at eight o'clock, the cause of death being apoplexy.
Esther Adelia Plato was born July 2d, 1843 in Genessee county, New York. With her parents she came to Wisconsin in 1844 where they resided until 1861 when they came to Winneshiek county where she has lived since. She always stayed at home with her parents. Since their death she has lived with her nephew's family. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mary Rathbun of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Wm. Dickinson of Freeport, to mourn her death. The funeral will be held at the home on Lloyd street this morning, with interment in the Russell cemetery in Canoe township. Miss Plato was a good hearted woman every ready to help those whom she could befriend with small thought of her own personal welfare.Decorah Republican, December 3rd, 1908
