Germaine Catherine Brincks was born to Michael and Clara (Bullerman) Brincks Dec. 5, 1932, in Ossian. She was baptized at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Germaine attended St. John School in Fort Atkinson, graduating in 1951. She married Evroul Beckman of Ossian June 6, 1956, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Together they raised four children, three sons and a daughter. She was faithful with her husband in starting a family business, opening a Western Auto Store, later affiliated with Ace Hardware. The couple, Evroul and Germaine, worked together, side by side, six days a week for 60 years. She enjoyed serving their customers, ordering Christmas toys, playing cards and traveling to conventions. In her spare time, Germaine enjoyed her extended family most of all. Her hobbies included embroidery, with which she created many beautiful pillowcases and dresser scarves. Germaine had a green thumb and cultivated many beautiful flowers in her garden and pots throughout the years. She enjoyed cooking for the holidays and hosted many wonderful gatherings for her family. Later in life she enjoyed playing i-Pad puzzles, card games and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. She will be remembered for her faithfulness to God, husband, family, business, church circles, the Ossian community and her close card-playing friends -- of which there were many.

She is survived by her husband, Evroul; her four children: Dale (Joan) of Ossian,; Fr. David Beckman currently of Independence; Diane (James) Stee of Ossian; and Dean (Deb) of Winona, Minn.; her eight grandchildren: Tim (Janelle) and Bryan Beckman, Sarah (Mike) Trimble, Daniel Stee (Brittany Coleman), Matthew (Jocelyn) Stee; and Aidan, Cale and Erica Beckman; her six great-grandchildren: Luella Beckman, Lydia and Anna Trimble, Evelyn and Mackson Stee and Theo Stee; her sister, Alice Elsbernd of Fort Atkinson; three sisters-in-law: Madonna Schmitt of Fort Atkinson, Ione (Norbert) Neuzil of Decorah and Margaret Ann (David) Schmitt of Fort Atkinson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Hildegard Beckman; and two brothers-in-law, Andrew Elsbernd and Alfred Schmitt.
