A little child, aged about 15 months, of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Young, residing north of Kendallville, was shot and instantly killed early yesterday forenoon by a little brother aged about four years. Mr. Young, who runs a store at Kendallville, had left home on an egg route, and Mrs. Young stepped out of the house for a short time, leaving the two children playing upon the bed. When she returned she noticed something wrong with the child and noticed blood on its face and supposed that it had in some way secured a pair of scissors, or other sharp instrument, and had fallen upon them, but upon further investigation discovered blood on the back of the child’s head. The bullet from the revolver, a 32 calibre, had passed entirely through the head, causing instant death. How the children obtained the revolver is unknown as it had been kept on a shelf under a pile of clothing. Dr. G. A. Plummer was summoned, but the little child was beyond medical aid, death having been instantaneous.
