Another Pioneer at Rest.
Mrs. Anna E. Francis was born near Little Falls, N Y, Dec. 31, 1826, and died at her home on east Broadway in this city on Tuesday, June 11, aged 74 years, 5 months and 11 days. She was married to G. P. Francis in May, 1851, and last month passed her fiftieth wedding anniversary. With her husband she came to Decorah in 1856, where she has lived ever since. To them were born three sons and one daughter, of whom one son, Fred S. Francis, of Fort Dodge, with the husband, survive her. Her last illness was a long one but she bore it with a characteristic patience and fortitude. She united with the Congregational church in this city in 1858 and is the fifth one to pass out of that membership in the past year who had been counted among the faithful members for more than forty years. Her virtues were the home virtues and those who knew her best would testify to her cheerful acceptance of all the ups and downs that became her lot in life. A good woman, wife and mother is at rest.
