OBITUARY.
Charles Edwin Briggs was born in Burr Oak, Feb. 8th, 1869, and died at the parental home May 21st, 1901, aged 32 years, 3½ months. On Nov 4th, 1894, he was married to Florence Masters. To them were born three children; two girls now fatherless, and a boy, dying in infancy. Charlie was one of a family of five children, born to Elijah and Lucy Briggs. He has been a dutiful son, a loving brother, and an affectionate husband and father. He made a vigorous fight for life, but disease conquered, and loving hearts were forced to yield him to its power.
The funeral took place on the 23d at the M. E. church. Services were conducted by the I.O.O.F., Rev. R. E. J. Thompson delivering the funeral address. Charlie was a faithful member of Burr Oak I.O.O.F., also of M.W.A. The attendance at the funeral was large, showing that he was held in high esteem, not only by the members of the two orders but also by a large circle of acquaintances. The bereaved family and relatives have the sympathy of the community.
