HARRY J BLOOMFIELD.
The remains of Harry J. Bloomfield were brought to Decorah on Tuesday last from Minneapolis for burial. Deceased was born in Decorah 31 years, 5 months and 22 days prior to the 24th of February, and was the youngest son of the late Ira Bloomfield, one of the pioneers of this city. Death came to him on the 24th inst. after an illness that kept him at home only three days. And yet the certificate of death which the law requires in such circumstances said that death had resulted from "cerebral hemorrhage following locomotor ataxia.” This brings to mind the fact that some four years ago, or one year before he removed to Minneapolis, he had an attack of paralysis in the legs from which he slowly recovered. It was also known that he walked with difficulty and his labor was mostly done with his team in such a way that he could ride. He therefore labored until the very last in support of his family. He was married about ten years ago to Miss Lena Anderson, who then lived near Ridgeway. No children resulted from the union but there was one adopted child who became to him as one of his own and who, with his wife, still mourn his lose. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church on the arrival of the body from Minneapolis, Dr. Willett officiating, and the Modern Woodmen of America, of which order deceased was a member, being in charge.

Transcriber's Note: His gravestone in Phelps Cemetery shows he was born September 7, 1870.
