Mrs. G. A. Meyer, wife of the junior member of the firm of Meyer, Koch & Co., died in child-birth at the family home one mile north of town on the morning of the 17th inst. The little one, which lived only a few moments after birth, did not long precede the young mother, and both dressed as for an evening reception of friends, were held away in the same coffin, beautiful in death as the fair young wife and mother had been in life. The funeral services took place at the Catholic church, Revs. Father Norris, of Calmar, and Father Hogan, of Postville, officiating. The attendance at the funeral was very large and the services impressive. The interment took place at the Catholic cemetery here and as the remains were committed to the last resting place many a falling tear testified to the affection in which Mrs. Meyer had been held in the community in which she was born and passed her young and genial life. The sorrowing husband and the little three-year-old son have the broad and deep sympathy of all in their unspeakable loss.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Nellie who was born Nov. 1874.
