Mary Henry, age 101 of Decorah, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2020 at the St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding. Burial will be in St. Benedict Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah and also after 10:00 a.m. at the Church on Monday morning. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Aase Haugen Senior Services staff, Kathy Petersburg and Winneshiek County Hospice for the all the great and loving care they provided to Mary.

Mary Lucille (Cronin) Henry was born on October 6, 1918 the daughter of John and Mae (Carolan) Cronin in Waucoma, IA. She attended school in Waucoma and graduated from Our Lady of Angels in Clinton, IA. She married James Henry on May 17, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waucoma. Mary and James raised four children: Noel, Susanne, Joseph and Martha. When her children were grown, Mary went back to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for the Aase Haugen Homes and in Public Health for many years. She was a member of St. Benedicts Catholic Parish, the Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Mary is survived by her daughters: Susanne (Bill) Gerard, Davenport, IA; Martha (Larry) Martinson, Decorah, IA. Son: Joseph (Marian) Henry, Decorah, IA. Eleven Grandchildren: Darin (Barb) Henry, Scott (Sue) Henry, Kathy Teff, Kristie (Dave) Krivachek, Cindie Mooney, Tim (Kim) Mooney, Ann (Greg Keppy) Mooney, Mike Henry, Craig (Trisha) Henry, Steve (Jen) Henry, Adam Martinson and Dan Martinson. Eighteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. Sister-in-law Maxine Cronin, Des Moines, IA.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband James in 1999. Son: Noel in 2006. Parents: John and Mae (Carolan) Cronin. Grandson: Kevin Henry. Brothers: Harold (Murial) Cronin, Myles Cronin, Phillip Cronin and John (Verna) Cronin. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard Henry, Myles (Josie) Henry, John Henry, Nellie (Francis) Donlan and Stella Henry.
