James Frederick Schnitzler was born on February 19, 1954 the son of John H. and Evelyn (Falck) Schnitzler in Decorah, IA. He was baptized at the Orleans Lutheran Church his sponsors were Norma and Louis Albertson and Milton and Julie Schnitzler and confirmed at Burr Oak Lutheran. He attended country schools and graduated from North Winneshiek High School in 1972. After graduation, Jim started farming on the family farm where he’s remained farming his entire life. He married Judy Kingsley on May 29, 1976 in Harmony, MN. Together they had four daughters: Christina, Sarah, Holly and Peggy.

When Jim wasn’t busy on the farm, he loved driving his International 1456 in tractor pulls, golfing with buddies, and watching NASCAR races on TV. He enjoyed his sudoku books and a good card game on the computer. He had the best lap for reading books to his grandkids.

Jim made sure the value of hard work was passed on to his daughters – a lesson they may not have appreciated in their teenage years, but are thankful for now as adults. Jim was proud that his love for farming continues on with each of his grandkids; from tractor and combine rides on the farm, to showing beef cattle at the fair.

Jim is survived by his wife: Judy. Daughters: Christina (Bryan) Beaver, Hayfield, MN; Sarah (Chad) Smith, Decorah, IA; Holly Schnitzler, Milwaukee, WI and Peggy (Andy) Miller, Mabel, MN. Grandchildren: Natalie and Colton Beaver; Shayla, Kayleigh, Bentley and Allysen Smith; Max and Brody Miller. Mother: Evelyn Schnitzler, Decorah, IA. Siblings: John D.
