CLIFTON J. WILLIAMS.
A copy of the Syracuse, Neb., Journal of Dec. 12 containing a notice of the death of Clifton T. Williams came to our desk too late for use last week. The account says Mr. Williams was stricken with heart disease about 3:30 o’clock on the Saturday previous, the 6th, and died before medical aid could be summoned. Private funeral services were held at the home on Monday, the 8th, followed by public services at the Congregational church which were in charge of the Maccabees, assisted by the Workmen, of which orders Mr. Williams was a member. Mr. Williams was born in Mottsville, Ohio, Sept. 23, 1857. The larger part of his life was spent in Winneshiek couuty. He went to Syracuse in 1893 and engaged in the mercantile business and was counted one of the public spirited business men of the town. The Journal speaks particularly of his love for music and that it was through his instrumentality that an orchestra was organized and maintained which was a credit to the community it served.Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse; however it shows he was born in 1856.
