The Work of the Reaper.
The death of Mrs. Ingre Istad, wife of Tollef A. Istad, was reported from Madison township last Thursday, Nov. 6. Mrs. Istad was born in Valders, Norway, Nov 14, 1830, and hence was but little less than seventy-two years old. She was married to Mr. Istad in 1856 and continued to reside in Norway until 1869 when they came to America, and in June became residents of Madison township where their home has ever since been maintained. Seven children were born to them, and three —Mrs. Ole Martinson, T. T. and Andrew,—with the father survive to honor her memory. Among her neighbors and in her home she was respected and revered as a kind woman and a good mother The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at one o’clock at the house, Rev. I. B. Torreson officiating, and the remains were buried in the Haugen cemeteryTranscriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Union Prairie Cemetery shows her first name spelled Ingri.
