Recent Deaths.
ELKERUD.
Mrs. Sigri Hoyme-Eikerud, the aged mother of “Formand” Hoymes (who died a few months ago) died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Knut Nelson, three miles south of this city, on Saturday morning and was buried Tuesday afternoon in the cemetery attached to the Springfield church. She had reached the advanced age of 96 years, 8 months, and 9 days. Mrs. Eikerud was born in Valders, Norway, and came to America in 1850. After a short residence at Port Washington, Wis., they came to Springfield township where she has since resided. Her husband lived but a short time after coming to Winne¬hiek county. We have not the date of her marriage to Mr. Eikerud. Twelve children were born to her, five of whom are living and four were present at the funeral. In making up her life record, one of the most notable facts is that her descendants number 182, there being in addition to the twelve children, sixty-seven grand-children, 97 great-grand-children, and six great-great-grand-children

Transcriber’s Note: Iowa Gravestone photos show she is buried in Springfield Cemetery and that her name was Sigrid Hoyme Ekren. It shows she was born in 1806 and died Oct. 11, 1902.
