Mrs. L. H Gibbs died at her home in Castalia, Wednesday, August 20th, 1902, after a lingering Illness. Mary Ann Angler was born in Westport. Essex County, N. Y , February 9, 1822; was united in marriage to Lorenzo Gibbs March 9, 1848, this being the anniversary of Mr. Gibbs’ birthday As a result of this union three children were born, all of whom survive their mother —Mrs. Jennie M. Shaffer, who has lived with her parents since the death of her husband some years ago: William A Gibbs of Castalia, and Nelson Gibbs of Dubuque. Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs came west with their children in the spring of 1871 and settled on a farm one mile east of Castalia, where they resided until the spring of 1887, when they moved to Castalia where they have since resided. At the age of sixteen she united with the baptist Church at Westport, and remained a consistent member to the time of her death. When she moved west she united with the Baptist Church at Castalia and remained a member until the organization was disbanded. For some months past Mrs. Gibbs was a great sufferer but she bore it all without complaint, and with the thought "it will all be over soon.” she resigned herself to the will of Him who “doeth all things well.” Mrs. Gibbs was a faithful wife and mother and will be greatly missed in the home as she devoted nearly all her time to her home. The funeral was conducted from the U. B Church, Friday, August 22, Rev. Ross officiating. The many friends of the deceased unite in heartfelt sympathy for the grief stricken family in this affliction. The remains were interred in Pleasant View cemetery.
