OBITUARY.
Mrs. Lucy Colby died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cairnes, last Monday morning about 7 o’clock. Mrs. Colby was born in Quebec, Canada, August 20, 1824, and therefore lacked but a few days of 78 years when she died.
For years she has been an invalid, unable to move about or care for herself. Eighteen mouths ago Mrs. Cairnes brought her mother from her home in New York State, so that she might care for her while she lived. Though a sufferer and so dependent, Mrs. Colby was very patient and uncomplaining, yet she desired to be that she might be free from her sufferings. The change when it came was so gradual and yet so sudden that she died unobserved. Thus closed a long life in which there has been much suffering, but in the end there was peace.
There are five children, with Mrs. Cairnes, to mourn a mother’s loss. May the rich blessings of a kind Heavenly Father and the comfort of the Spirit be theirs in this hour of their sorrow and bereavement.
