At five o’clock this morning; Mary Louise, widow of Thomas Mitchell, passed away, she having long been a sufferer from that ever dreaded disease consumption. Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of John and Phebe Fawcett, old time residents and members of the Friends church at this place: and sister to Mrs. J. I. Tavener of Decorah, Mrs. Roe White and Isaac Faucett of Hesper, Granville Faucett of Mabel and two sisters who live in other parts. She was born Sept. 9th 1853, married to Thomas Mitchell Jan 31st 1877, he having died March 23d, 1896. She leaves three children, the eldest a son nineteen years of age, and the others, a son and daughter, (twins) a few years younger. Sad indeed to be left orphans, at a time when a mother’s care is so much needed. May the God of the fatherless be their stay and comfort. Funeral services will be at the Friends church on Thursday at eleven o’clockTranscriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in Hesper Public Cemetery. Also her maiden name is spelled two different ways but Find a Grave shows Fawcett.
