The news of the death of Justus Seeley on the evening of the 2nd, whose home was at Mabel, cast a gloom over many homes and hearts, not only there where he has so long been a useful and honored member of society: but also here in a Hesper where many of us have for over thirty years known him as a true and trusted friend. Quiet and unassuming in manner, ever gentle and kind to all with whom he came in contact, he lived and died having the respect and good will of all who knew him. Though for some time he had been in a decline, as one of his age, (seventy five years is liable to be) he was the day of his death to all appearance as well as at any time for many months. Death resulted from apoplexy with from three to four hours illness. Ho leaves a widow who, in this, her second bereavement, has the sympathy of all who have known her nearly all her life. A daughter, Miss Minnie, who is at present a teacher in the Van Vleet district west of town, is his only child. Mrs. A. A. Seeley whose home is near Burr Oak is a step daughter; but it would be hard to say that the one, would miss the loving, patient father more than the other, he has been equally fatherly to them both and they too have the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends.
