OBITUARIES,
MARGARET OLSON
died at her home in Pleasant township on the 14th of February. She was one of the pioneer women of that township having come with her husband hither in 1856. She was born in Norway Sept, 13. 1814, and survived to pass her 87th birthday. She was married, before coming to this country, to Nels 01son and together they came to this country in 1850, residing in Dane County. Wis., before coming hither. There was only one son born to them, by name Ole Nelson, he will be remembered by old settlers as a very promising young Norwegian: so promising that in 1861, when only just past 21 years of age, he was elected along with the Hon. Wm H. Baker, father of the Baker brothers of this county, to represent Winnesheik in the 9th General Assembly, and again in 1863, in the 10th General Assembly, along with James H. Brown of Orleans township. M. V. Burdick was senator at that time. In 1865 he entered into business at Northwood but during the summer was taken ill with typhoid fever from which he died. Mrs. Olson, therefore passed away with no direct descendents. The nearest of kin are nephews and nieces among these being E. O. Schjeldahl of Highlandvllle and Mrs. Anna Skjerveheim, a nephew and niece.
