EDWARD OSCAR STEVENS was born in Gilboa, Scoharie Co, N. Y., Feb. 8, 1842, and died Feb. 20, 1902, aged 60 years and 10 days. He removed to Wisconsin when eight years of age, and to Iowa in 1869. On March 7, 1868, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Manning. To them seven children were born, one preceding him to the glory land. At the age of twenty he was converted and united with the M. E. church, of which he has been a true and tried member, acting in official relations the most of the time. He was a kind and indulgent husband and father, to which wife and children testify. For many years he had been a severe sufferer from asthma, but with an unfailing faith in his Savior bore his sufferings with fortitude and uncomplainingly. His body sleeps, awaiting the sounding of the trumpet that shall awaken those who have a part in the first resurrection. He lives in the memory of his loved ones.
Transcriber’s Note: Iowa Gravestone Photos show he is buried in Freeport Cemetery.
