Another Pioneer Passes Away,
In the death of .John S. Losen the township of Hesper lost its oldest pioneer settler. This event occurred Feb 6th, when Mr, Losen had attained the age of 82 years, 4 mouths and 22 days. He was born in Melhaus, Norway, in 1819, and came to America in the spring of 1851. Soon after arriving he married Maren Ryalen and in the spring of that same year came to Iowa, found land that suited him in Hesper township and located. Here he has since resided until death came to relieve him of earthly habitation. He was the father of four children, of whom two and the aged mother survive him. These children are Peter J. Losen and Sarah Thlngvold, both of them residents of the township. Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church at Hesper on the 11th inst., a large number attending. The remains were buried in the church cemetery. Peace to his ashes.
