Mrs. Hans Malaas died at her home north of town Monday, Jan. 6. Mrs. Malaas was 58{sic} years old and has been a devoted member of the Madison church since girlhood. She was a great sufferer for the last six months and everything possible was done to alleviate her pain, but finally the death angel called her home. She leaves a husband and eight children to mourn her loss—Mrs. T. K. Johnson and Mrs. Gus Bakken of Madison township, Mrs. Annon Anderson, Jr., of Orleans township, Clara and Christina and sons Lars, Gilbert and Ole at home. The sympathy of their many friends go out to the family in their great sorrow.

Transcriber’s Note: Iowa Gravestone Photos show this was Maren Melaas who is buried in Madison Lutheran Cemetery. It shows she was born March 14, 1853 and was 48 years old.
