Decorah had a murder and suicide last Saturday. Hans Gold, aged 34, shot and killed his wife, and then ended his own life, using a repeating shotgun. Gold was a plasterer and an excessive drinker and cigarette smoker and previous to committing the crime was on the verge of an attack of delerium tremens.

DECORAH PARENT FINDS DAUGHTER AND HUSBAND DEAD.
The finding of the bodies of Mr. & Mrs. Hans Gould in their home at Decorah Sunday morning told the story of a double tragedy, supposedly a murder and suicide. Mrs. Gould's father called at his daughter's home, and getting no response, entered the home and found the bodies of his daughter and husband up stairs.
The supposition is that Gould shot his wife with the shotgun found near the bodies and then turned the gun on himself. The man was a plasterer by trade and had employment. They had no children. It is believed the shooting occurred between 4 and 6 o'clock Saturday evening.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Phelps Cemetery and that he was born Dec. 30, 1875 and died April 30, 1910.
