Another Pioneer Gone.
Tuesday afternoon, about five o'clock at the home of Peter E. Haugen in the southwest corner of Decorah township, Gulbrand Gulbrandson died from heart disease. Mr. Gulbrandson is well remembered as one of the pioneers of Springfield township. In July, 1852, he came to Winnesheik{sp} county and settled on the southeast quarter of Sec. 6, in Springfield, and there he continued to reside until about six years ago, when he went to Northwood, where he has since lived. He returned to Decorah last month at the time of the Synod meeting, and has since been visiting relatives and old friends and neighbors. Mr. Gulbrandson was born in Norway, Dec. 19, 1823, hence was in his eightieth year at the time of his death. During his long residence in Springfield township he was known as a kind neighbor and a good citizen, and the portion of esteem which his friends and acquaintances felt for him was very large.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Union Prairie Cemetery
