Grandma Sellman passed from time into eternity this Tuesday morning at 2:20 o’clock. Mrs. Sellman has been a great sufferer the last six months.

Frederica Sellman (nee Gutzka) was born in Brandenburg, Germany, October 20th, 1814, and died at, the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Koppen, near Locust, Iowa, where she was well cared for in her old ago, and especially during her last sickness. She died April 14th at the age of 88 years, 5 months and 24 days. She was married to Frederick Sellman in Germany. To this union were born six children. She and her family came to Canada in 1857 where they resided until 1860. From there they moved to Decorah, where they lived but one year, when they moved to Hesper township and settled on a farm. Her husband and four children preceded her to the better world. She leaves one son, Fred Sellman of Decorah, and one daughter, Mrs. John Koppen, of Locust, besides many grand and great-grandchildren and a large number of friends. She was a member of the Lutheran church of Locust and proved faithful unto God and the church until death. She died happy in Jesus and is now at rest. The funeral was largely attended, Rev. K. Seehus officiated. Mrs. Sellman was greatly loved and honored by all who knew her.
