Another Pioneer at Rest.
On Saturday last, the 14th inst., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Gove, Mrs. Mary L. Boyd died after an illness of about six months from a complication of diseases. Mrs. Boyd’s maiden name was Mary Lommen and she was born in Norway, Sept, 12, 1835. In 1851 she came to America and Decorah where she was married on June 11, 1854, to James Boyd. Nine children were born to them, six of whom survive. They are G. F. Boyd of Minneapolis, Henry Boyd of Lyons, Neb., Theodore Boyd of Wendell, Minn., Mrs. Ida Conneley of Fargo, N D., Mrs. C. R. Gove and Miss Mellie Boyd of Decorah,
Mrs. Boyd was a woman whose heart was centered in her home where she commanded the love and respect of her children. She enjoyed the friendship of a large circle of acquaintances who esteemed her alike for her kindness as a neighbor and faithfulness as a friend. During many years of her life, she was a member of the Methodist church, but during the latter years she was a member of the first Lutheran church. The funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of C, R. Gove, Rev. Scehuus of Locust officiating, and the remains were interred In the Phelps cemetery.
