The remains of Thomas Armstrong, father of George Armstrong of Canoe township, were brought to Decorah yesterday for burial. Mr. Armstrong was an early day resident in Fremont township, leaving here fifty-eight years ago. He has spent the intervening years in the south and west, principally in Texas and Colorado. Fifty years ago he was a scout for Joe Sibley in his fighting with the Indians. Besides his son in Canoe, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Warner of Monte Vista, Colo., and Mrs. Wm. Ward, whose home is in Montana, and two brothers, James and Wm. T. Armstrong of Canistota, S. D. The latter is here to attend the funeral.
