Mrs. M. J. Bolland was born in Mellauus. Norway, Jan. 18, 1825, and died in Hesper, Iowa. Sept 15, 1904. Mr. and Mrs. Bolland were married in her native town in 1857, and came to Hesper in 1858. Mr. Bolland died March 18. 1899 and most of the time since Mrs. Bolland made her home at the home of her son-in-law. John Wold. Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Bolland were the parents of seven children, three of whom remain, J. M. Bolland of Everett, Wash., Johannes Bolland of Mabel and Mrs. John Wold of Hesper. Mrs. Bolland's funeral was held at the Lutheran church on the afternoon of the 17th. Rev. V O. Langhaugh officiating. Among those present were A. E. Thune and wife of Highlandville and Mrs. Ole O. Sand of Mille Lacs, Minn., a granddaughter of the deceased.
