Killed at Duluth.
Telegrams received in Decorah last Friday announced the death of S. C. Johnson at Duluth and stated that he had relatives here. It developed the deceased was a brother of J. O. Johnson, foreman of the composing room at the Lutheran Publishing House. The deceased was a man about forty years old and at the time of his death was employed as a sailor, but had spent some time in the south in and about Memphis, Tenn. A later dispatch from Two Harbors to the Minneapolis Tribune stated that Johnson fell through a hatchway of a vessel and the injuries sustained caused his death. Some time ago he wrote his brother that he intended to quit the sailor's life at the close of his next trip, which proved to be his last.
