Mrs. Margaretha Hauber passed away Wednesday evening after a short illness resulting from a paralytic stroke. Miss Margaretha Horn was born in Loffelt, Bavaria, Germany, May 10, 1836, and immigrated to America in 1849. March 12, 1854, she was married to Joseph Hauber at Seneca Falls, New York, to which union were born fourteen children, twelve of whom survive. From New York in 1865 they came to Winneshiek county, settling in Sumner township. Mr. Hauber died in 1894, and one year later Mrs. Hauler moved with her family to Calmar, where she has since resided. Mrs. Hauber leaves to mourn her loss twelve children, George, Joseph, Charles, Andrew, Anton, Mrs. Mary Miller of Oklahoma, Annie, Mrs. Margaret Etteldorf of Festina, Amelia, Mrs. Louise Koch of Calmar, Frances and Tillie, besides other relatives and numerous friends. In their deep bereavement the family is assured of the sympathy of this community.
