O. W. Ellingson died at his home in this city Monday noon last, aged 64 years, 6 months and 9 days. Deceased was born in Soggendal, Norway, Nov 14th, 1864{sic}, and came to America with his parents in 1851 or 1852. For two years they resided near Beloit, Wis., and then came to Winneshiek county. Here they secured land in Sec. 10, Pleasant township, and made a home which later came to Mr. Ellingson and continued to be his home until three years ago, when he moved to town. On June 24, 1862, Rachel Severson became his wife, and to them eleven children were born—two daughters and nine sons—all of whom are living near the old farm home. They arc Mrs. Julia Lien, Mrs. George Barth, Elling, Sever, Henry, Ole. Albert, Martin, Julius, Richard M,, and Clarence T. Mr. Ellingson was a staunch Republican and besides being honored by such offices as were in the gift of his party associates in his home township, he served for three years on the Board of Supervisors. But no better testimonial to his worth as a citizen can be found than his character as it is reflected in the lives of his children.
On April 12th Mr. Ellingson suffered a stroke of paralysis to his right side. For two weeks some improvement was noted, but he gradually failed, and a week before his death he became much worse.
Funeral services will be held at the home on Main street this morning at eleven o’clock and the remains will be taken to the Big Canoe church for burial. Rev. K. Seehuus will officiate.

Transcriber’s Note: Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery records show he was born in November 14, 1839 (which agrees with his age) and died May 23, 1904.
