Between three and four o'clock yesterday morning Mrs. S. J Clark passed into eternity after an illness covering several months. Mrs. Clark’s maiden name was Sarah Jane Gifford and she was born May 16, 1833, in New Jersey. When five years old her family moved to Illinois where the family home was made near Chicago. At just what date she came to Iowa is not known but she has been a resident of Decorah for about thirty-five years. Mrs. Clark was twice married. Her first husband was Z. Sackett and her second husband P. A. Clark. During most of her life in Decorah up to five years ago. She was actively engaged in the millinery business and gained a wide acquaintance thereby throughout the county. In early life she joined the Methodist Episcopal church and remained faithful to its teachings until the time of her death. There remains, to honor the memory of a kind and loving mother and sister, Mrs. Lou Sackett-Enright, her only daughter, and four sisters and one brother, namely, Mrs. M. M. Bullock, Oakland, Cal., Mrs. R. R. Griswold, Ludlow, Ill., Mrs. Goodykoontz, Mitchell, S. D., B. J. Gifford, Kankakee, Ill,, and Mrs. Wiggins of Decorah. The funeral services will be held to-morrow, Friday, afternoon, at the house at 2:30 o’clock.
