George Duder, 78 of Decorah died 25th of June, 2019 at the Patty Elwood Memory Care Center in Cresco surrounded by his loved ones.

George Harold Duder was born March 1st, 1941, in Decorah, Iowa, the only child of William and Josephine (Odle) Duder. George was a graduate of Decorah Schools and later attended Luther College before enlisting in the military in October of 1963. That same year, he married Ann Lowery in December. For the following 3 years he served as a bandsman in the U.S. Army, serving primarily overseas.

After his military tour of service, George and Ann returned to Decorah where he worked as an instrument repairman at Kephart's. George used his G.I. Bill to attend flight school where he earned several licenses' and a flight instructor's certification. Over the years, he owned a small business and before retiring, he was a rural mail carrier with the USPS. Over his lifetime, he was an accomplished musician, a pilot, a sailor, a Dive Master, enjoyed motorcycling and the outdoors.

George is survived by his wife, Ann Duder, Decorah; Son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Robyn Duder and their son, William, Decorah. Son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Kristine Duder, Spillville and Scott's son, Michael Duder of WA. His cousin, David Odle of MN; brother-in-law, Michael Lowery and his wife, Mary of Horicon, WI; a sister-in-law, Krisann Lowery of Decorah and several nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Horace and Roberta Lowery and his brother-in-law, David Lowery.

There will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held at a future date, with Rev. Hyeunmee Kang of First United Methodist of Decorah officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at Patty Elwood and Howard County Hospice for their compassionate care.
