Dwight T. Manning, whose death was announced last week, was born in Napierville, Canada, Aug. 27, 1843, and came to Burr Oak with his parents when ten years of age. They were among the very first settlers of the town, the father owning the north half of what is now the town, and gave a lot to anyone that would build on it. Dwight grew to manhood on the farm, was married to Olive Rollins, eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Rollins, now of Decorah, in 1866, and has always been, more or less, connected with Burr Oak, although not living in the immediate village. He joined the Congregational church in 1867 and continued faithful to its tenets as long as it had an organisation here. Afterwards feeling that he needed a home in God’s church somewhere, he joined the M. E. church n 1901. In 1882 he became an A. F. & A. M., and at the time of his death held a membership in Great Lights Lodge, Decorah. His aged mother still lives in Freeport, and only sister, Mrs. Stevens, of name place. His eldest son Frank lives in North Dakota, Clark at Sattre, and Herman at the home in Canoe township, where the funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dorcas on Thursday. During that continuous rain they laid him to rest in Burr Oak cemetery, burial taken charge of by a delegation of the Masonic Lodge from Decorah and Burr Oak. Mr. Manning was aged 60½ years,
