OBITUARY.
Cyrus Adams was born in Suffield, Ohio, January 20, 1815, and died at Morenci, Mich., February 11, 1904.
All of his early life was spent on a farm in Ohio. He married Miss Mary E. Weaver, June 1, 1841, and to them were born three children, N. H. Adams of this city, M. W. Adams of Kansas City and Mrs. Ella M. Scott of Minneapolis, all still living. In 1865 the family came to Decorah and he engaged in the boot and shoe business as C. Adams & So., This relation continued until 1870 when he retired from commercial life. The Ben Bear store was built by him after the original building on that site had been burned by fire, and remains as his contribution to the crop of handsome buildings that were the second growth of our public structures.
In 1881 his wife, Mrs. Adams, died, and in 1888, having married Mrs. Adelia Haynes, he moved to Morenci, Mich., where he has since lived.
All his life Mr. Adams was a man of rugged health, and death came to him in its most sudden form, that of heart failure. He was alone for just a moment in the family sitting room, and was found on the sofa lying as though peacefully sleeping, but the soul had departed. He was a man of the strictest integrity, a model of uprightness and probity, a member of the Congregational church and his departure is only a going home.Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci, Michigan. It also said he was born July 26, 1815 which disagrees with the above,
