Cheryl Westra, age 81, of Decorah, IA, died on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.

A celebration of life will be held for Cheryl from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah.

Cheryl Sue (Danielson) Westra was born to Willis and Bonnie Danielson on August 26, 1937 in Dows, Iowa. Cheryl worked most of her life serving others, from raising 7 children to working for over 20 years in the Food Service at Luther College in Decorah Iowa, retiring in 2003. Cheryl enjoyed the many trips across the United States with her friends of Decorah, the antiquing trips with her sister and brother-in-law, the early morning water aerobics with the Decorah Bobbers and the weekly gatherings at the Senior Center.

Cheryl will be forever remembered and missed by her children, Sherry (John) Weber of Grand Rapids, MN, Debra (Dennis) Durham of Kentucky, Kathy Crawford (Doug DeWall) of Caledonia, MN, Timothy (Jody) Schwartz of Moorhead, MN, and Kevin (Wendy) Schwartz of New Hampshire, along with 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Cheryl is preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Schwartz, a son, Ricky Schwartz, her parents, an infant sister, Virginia Danielson, her first husband, Kenneth Schwartz, and her second husband, John Westra.
