Ernestine “Ernie” Schultz, 88, of Castalia, Iowa died Monday, April 1, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, Iowa. Ernestine Amelia was born January 1, 1931 to Ernest and Isabella (Koffman) Lang in McGregor, Iowa. She was baptized on May 17, 1931 at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa.

Ernestine was united in marriage with Kenneth Schultz on April 7, 1951. To this union five children were born, Susan, Myron, Kevin, Thomas and Kathy. They also helped raise two nephews, Stan and Guy Schultz and one niece, Mari Lynn Martin.

Throughout the years, Ernie worked for Groth Turkey Plant and then for Iowa Turkey Products for 34+ years and also worked for Palmquist Department Store. She really enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also really enjoyed playing bingo, visiting with friends and family, watching her soap operas, and many family trips with grandchildren. She loved to read books.

Ernie is survived by her siblings; Robert Lang and LuAnn Kregel; sisters-in-law; Barbara Schultz and Janan Lang; children; Susan Haberkorn, Thomas (Charlynn) Schultz, and Kathy (Mike) Johnson all of Castalia, Iowa; one daughter-in-law; Debra Schultz , Postville; eleven grandchildren; Jillian (Jose) Garcia, Destiny (Erik) Nunez, Carrie Jo (Tim) Sholly, Steven Schultz, Matthew Schultz (special friend Amanda Kubik),Annie ( Hector Ultreras-Rivera)Schultz, Natalie (Dante) Barria, Jessica Johnson, Katie Johnson (special friend Harlan Sande), Amanda Johnson, Jody (Mike) Gruber; twenty great-grandchildren; Landon, Diego, Jezebel, Gustavo, Aydan, Esveydi, Nayeli, Tatyana, Olivia, Adrian, Hunter, Lacoda, Olivia, Brayden, Jaxon, Josh, Evelyn, Arian, Hayden, Ricky; one great-great grandchild Elliot and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; two sons, Myron and Kevin Schultz; one sister, Carlene Lettington; two brothers, William and John Lang; sister-in-law, Betty Lang; two brothers-in-law, Irvin Kregel and Leroy Lettington; one daughter-in-law, Lynette Schultz; one son-in-law, Don Haberkorn; one granddaughter, Katina Haberkorn at birth; one great-grandson Mateo Mayorga at birth.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before services at the church on Saturday.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, Iowa with Rev. Jim Harbaugh as the officiant.

Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia, Iowa.
