An accident which shocked the people of this community occurred Friday afternoon when Frank, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Bly Pivet, was drowned in the Turkey River, just north of the car bridge. In company with Carl Houdek the little lad had gone to the river to skate and play with sleds. He had gone across the river three times on his sled and while crossing the fourth time the ice broke beneath him. He cried for help and Carl immediately called his mother, who was within hearing. Before she arrived Frank had gone under the ice. Mrs. Pivet fell into the water also and was badly chilled before being rescued. After about one hour’s search the body of the unfortunate boy was recovered. The deceased was born in Minneapolis, Minn., March 27, 1895. At the age of three years he came to his place, where his home has been ever since. The funeral services were held Monday at 9:00 o’clock from St. John’s church and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
