MRS. JAMES A. HART
Died, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. H. Nicholson, at Bettravia, Cal., Mrs. James A. Hart of Austin, Minn., on November 11, 1905, aged 68 years, 7 mos., 15 days.
Deceased was born on March 27th, 1837, at Aye, Ont. Dec. 9th, 1853, she was united in marriage to McKenzie Hall. They moved to Ossian, Iowa, in the early fifties, where she resided until 1883, on the farm now owned by Thos. Scheidmantel. Mr. Hall died on Aug. 4, 1878. June 6, 1881, she married Jas. A. Hart of Ossian; later they moved to Austin, where they lived at the time of her death.
Mrs. Hart leaves an aged mother, a brother and sister, besides her husband and seven children by her first marriage. Her children are Mrs. Louise Baker, of Sioux City, Mrs. Hattie Helland of Thorsby, Ala, Mrs. Agnes Nicholson and Elmer Hall of Bettravia, Cal., Mrs. Mabel Emery of Omaha, Neb., Arthur Hall of Spokane, Wash., and Miss Frances Hall of Sioux City. Deceased was a member of the M. E. church and a thorough Christian woman, always willing to assist in any move toward the betterment of mankind. Her life with Mr. Hall was during the pioneer days of Iowa and thereby helped lay the foundation of future prosperity.
She left Austin in early autumn to spend the winter on the coast, but death overtook her ere winter began.
The funeral services were held in Austin, Rev. Knopf officiating. The remains were laid beside those of Mr. Hall in Hill Side cemetery at Ossian, Rev. Smith officiating.
Those present at the burial were her husband, Jas. A. Hart of Austin, Mrs. Baker of Sioux City, Mrs. Helland of Alabama, Mrs. Emery and husband of Omaha; Elmer Hall of California, and Miss Frances Hall of Sioux City. Also T. W> Hart and J. E. Hart of Mankato, Minn., and S. P. Hart of St. Louis, Mo.
