On Friday last, at almost one o’clock, Isaac Hawk, of Canoe, passed away. He was in his usual good health all the forenoon, ate a hearty dinner, then took a little walk in the yard. Came into the house, took off his shoes and went upstairs to take his usual afternoon nap. In a few minutes his daughter and her husband heard a slight noise but thought he was only breathing heavily in his sleep, but when in a few moments they heard it again and hastened upstairs and he was breathing his last. He at one time owned a fine farm in Washington Prairie but for forty years or more has been a resident of Canoe and for several years his home has been with his daughter, Mrs. Ash Dawley. He has been a hard-working, industrious man, very temperate, never drinking any kind of intoxicating liquors and never has used tobacco. He was an early riser and although he was in his 90th year has never required much care. For several years he has been quite deaf and was almost blind, still he was very patient. Our sympathy is extended to all the sorrowing ones, especially the sorrow-{sic} so tenderly cared for him. He leaves one son and three daughters to mourn him, besides a host of friends and neighbors.

Transcriber’s Note: Find-a-Grave shows he is buried in the Canoe German Cemetery and was born April 8, 1815.
