George Pavlovec, age 88, of Decorah, IA, died on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah, IA.Visitation will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah, IA, followed by a memorial service at 5:30 p.m., with Rev. Richard Simon Hanson presiding.
George Joseph Pavlovec was born on August 3, 1930 in Fort Atkinson, IA the son of James and Mary Ann (Riha) Pavlovec. He attended St. John’s Catholic School. George served in the Navy from 1951-1954. George returned home and worked for Myer and Roverud Brothers Construction operating heavy equipment. He married Patricia Halverson on January 12, 1957 and to this union two children were born. George enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the American Legion.
George is survived by his wife Patricia Pavlovec of Decorah, IA. Son: Mark Pavlovec, Buford, GA. Daughter: Laurie (Dan) Pavlovec Hageman, Waucoma, IA. Grandchildren: Kasey (Quentin) Alexander, Justine Pavlovec, Jayme Kimber and Tracy (Chris) Perez. Great grandchildren: Ethan and Eliana Perez, Lyric Pavlovec, Faith Roffey, Hal Kimber and Ryker Hageman. Sisters: Mary Ann Blong, Ossian, IA and Rita (Joe) Holthaus, Decorah, IA. Brothers: Arthur (Bernice) Pavlovec, Fort Atkinson, IA and Paul (Virginia) Pavlovec, Decorah, IA. Sisters-in-law: Grace Pavlovec, Fort Atkinson and Ruth Pavlovec, Fort Atkinson, IA along with many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents: James and Mary Ann (Riha) Pavlovec. Brothers: Danny, Victor, Bobby and Jimmy. Father and
