Smith Curtis, one of the early settlers of this region passed away at his home near Kendallville, about 9 o ’clock Thursday evening, June{?} 9th, aged 65 or thereabouts. Obituary notice later.

Transcriber’s Note: Kendallville-Eddy Cemetery indicates he was born in 1835. I think the month of death is in error since the paper is dated May.
