Mark Wayne Rude, 69, of Winona, Minn. died peacefully at his home Oct. 28, 2018. Visitation of family and friends is Friday, Nov. 2, from 5:30 to 7 p.m at Fawcett Junker Funeral Home. Services entrusted to Fawcett Junker Funeral Home and Crematory, Winona, Minn. and Fountain City, Wis.

He was born May 31, 1949, in Decorah, to Rita (nee Brown) and Kenneth Rude.
After graduation from Decorah High School, he chose to make Winona his home and worked at Fiberite Manufacturing as a lab technician for two years before taking a position at Bay State Milling Company where he worked until his retirement in a variety of roles. Mark was a free spirit and enjoyed time with friends, especially his beloved pets Kahuna and The Sergeant, traveling, US history, and building dioramas.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Winona Hospice and Jay Frye, who served as a travel companion and caretaker in his final days. We cannot thank you enough for the selfless hours you spared to care for our father. His dying wish was to see Yellowstone and Jay helped see that dream to fruition. What a wonderful gift you gave to all of us for that.

Mark is survived by his daughters, JoDee (Roger) Jevne of Burr Oak and Jennifer (Sam) Flottum of Rochester, Minn.; as well as by four sisters: Marlene Kreutzer of Decorah; Kathy Rude of Decorah, Mary Thompson of Iowa City and Jackie Rude of Yuma, Ariz. He also is survived by five grandchildren: Nicholas (Nikki) Jevne of Burr Oak; Nathan (Nichole) Jevne of Ridgeway; Mycole (Abbey Lowe) Jevne of Burr Oak; Sydney Flottum of Champlin, Minn.; and Sierra Flottum of Rochester, Minn.; and eight great-grandchildren: Xavier, Michael, Hunter, Gavin, Brooke, Gabriella, Claire and Chloe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Clarissa Jevne; and a brother-in-law, Harry Kreutzer.
