OBITUARY,
On Tuesday, June 23, the death angel entered the home of John Bender, near Burr Oak, and took the wife and mother to her eternal reward.
Ida Katie Albers was born in Canoe township, Winneshiek Co., Iowa, Dec. 11, 1868. In 1892, the 9th day of June, she joined her joys and sorrows for life with John Bender in holy wedlock. Of this union three sons were born, who, with their father, mourn the untimely death of a loving and faithful wife and mother. She was sick hardly three weeks of what proved to be typhoid pneumonia. She was not afraid to die, and when asked shortly before her death whether Jesus was with her she said, with a smiling face: “Yes. O! I am so glad. You will all meet me up there,” pointing to heaven.
Besides her husband and sons, her father, mother, six brothers and three sisters, and a host of friends, mourn her early death. Interment took place at the Canoe German M E. church Friday, Juno 26, Rev. Schlung officiating. It was one of the largest funerals ever held at that church.Transcriber's Note: Her gravestone shows she was born Feb. 11, 1868.
