Dubuque Daily Times, Saturday, Nov 07, 1874, Dubuque, IA, Page: 4

H. H. Buck, of Decorah, suddenly disappeared from that city on Wednesday, the 28th ult. He was proprietor of a bookstore and a news depot. He left a light burning in his room and his money in a loose condition, as if he had only stepped out for a moment. On Friday his hat was found at the edge of the millpond. Search was made for him, whether alive or dead, until Saturday, when his corpse was found on the river. A coroner’s jury brought in a verdict of accidental drowning; the Decorah Register thinks there was either foul play or suicide.
