Lennon Scott Schara-Horns, 16, of Postville, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. Lennon was born on April 12, 2002 in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Dwight and Shauna (Swift) Horns. He was a sophomore at Postville Community School, Postville, Iowa.

Lennon lived his whole life, in what was his own personal paradise, within the valleys surrounding the Yellow River north of Postville. He spent his time fishing for trout, finding fossils, looking for whitetail deer sheds, kayaking and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed camping on the Mississippi, exploring the wilderness with his dog Molly, finding arrowheads, target shooting with his gun or bow, working and making money. Most of all Lennon loved inviting others to share in his passion of spending time outdoors.

Lennon is survived by his parents, Dwight & Shauna Horns of Postville, Iowa and Scott Schara of Decorah, Iowa; one sister, Lavender Horns of Postville, Iowa; grandparents, Michael & Marla Miene of Postville, Irving & Barbara Horns of Decorah, Joe & Sheryl Hammel of Frankville, and Betty Schara of Hutchinson, MN; and Great-grandmother Patricia Miene of Postville; aunts and uncles, Eli Swift & Jessica Kulish, Katy Swift & Jessey Brainard, Kathleen & Al Kocher, Audrey Emerson & Darryl Stephan, Sidney & Theresa Horns, Larry & Tammy Horns, Susanna Sisk & PJ Folden, Sandra & Randy Evanson, Neal & Debbie Horns, Martin & Martha Horns, Jeffery & Dawn Horns, Dawn & Korrian Webb, Stephanie & Bob Giles, Sara Schara, Steven Schara, Meagan Chalmers; cousins, Kalina & Kody Swift, Hunter, Hailey, Logan, Daisy, & Violet Shipp, Jesse & Jasmine Brainard, Daniel & Marcel Jacobsen, Jeremy, Amy, Alex, & Jocelyn Jacobsen, Tiffany Horns, Boyd, Maureen, Madison, Austin, & Brooklyn Johanningmeyer, Blaine, Lisa, Tristan, & Carley Johanningmeyer, Justine, Marc, Taryn, & Piper Calderwood, Mike & Brittany Horns, Matthew Horns, Josh & Austin Evanson, Keith & Tracy Evanson, Ethan Evanson, Amanda, Jonathon, & Bryan Horns, Kristine & Sam Keppler, Sarah & Brianna Horns, River & Chloe Horns, Corey & Cody Giles, Courtney Fowler, Avery Schara; and special friend Samantha Gerard.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dominic & Savanna Horns; cousin, PFC Christopher Horns; uncle and aunt Myron & Melon Horns; grandfather, Robert Schara; great-grandparents Merle & Juanita Monroe, Herbert & Hedwig Horns, Glen & Ethel Palmer, and Paul Miene.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant.

Burial will be held at a later date.
