Jeanette Rustad Stenseth, age 89, of Decorah, IA died on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Wellington Place in Decorah, IA.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Calmar Lutheran Church, 200 East Street in Calmar, IA with Rev. Anita Nuetzman presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave, Decorah and also after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Tuesday morning.

Jeanette Gay (Knutson) Rustad Stenseth was born on October 8, 1928 the daughter of Phillip and Cora (Dahle) Knutson in Decorah, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at the Madison Lutheran Church. Jeanette attended country school in Madison Township. She married Russell Rustad on February 16, 1947 at Madison Lutheran. Together they had three children: Diane, Kari and Philip. Russell passed away on December 28, 1972. Jeanette later married William Stenseth on January 24, 1974. Jeanette held many different positions in the healthcare field, working for Smith Memorial Hospital, Aase Haugen and for Dr. Anderson in Decorah. She was a wonderful cook and loved her sweets, often singing while she baked. She also enjoyed reading books and listening to music. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she loved her family deeply. Jeanette took great pride in her appearance, always looking her best. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jeanette is survived by her children: Phil (Jackie) Rustad, Decorah, IA; Diane Knutson, Decorah, IA and Kari (Gary) Anfinson, Denver, IA. Grandchildren: Martin (Juli) Knutson, Heather (Cory) Syverson, Justin (Tasha) Knutson, Michelle (Brandon) Stille, Michael (Tara) Knutson, Jayme (Janet) Rustad, Jennifer (David) Schmelzer, Ben Rustad, Sara (Jason) Goodman, Kaia (Justin) Piggott, and Abby (Jordan) Zaputil. Great grandchildren: Mara, Arianna, Tanner and Isabella Knutson; Olivia, Grace, Cora and Ava Syverson; Brady, Ella and Samantha Stille; Gavin, Grant and Riyan Joy Knutson; Josephine, Clara and Gannon Knutson; Kayla, Amanda, Lexi and Connor Rustad; Jordan, Mariah, Blake, Carter, Annika, Jackson and Gracelyn Schmelzer; Quinn and Nixon Goodman; Zearley, Zaylin and Zaith Zaputil; Bennett and Beckett Piggott. Sister: Phyllis Faldet, Decorah, IA. Brother-in-law: Allen Holkesvik. Sister-in-law: Alice Stenseth along with many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her first husband: Russell Rustad on December 28, 1972. Second husband: William Stenseth on July 22, 2011. Parents: Phillip and Cora (Dahle) Knutson. Great granddaughter: Kari Anderson. Brothers-in-law: Sydney Stenseth, Dervin Faldet and Otis (Mary) Rustad. Sisters-in-law: Virginia Holkesvik, Lucille (Charles) Tollefsrud and Shirley (Bob) Brooks.
