Eleanor A. Mracek, 93, of Lawler, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at her home with her family at her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, IA with Father Kyle Digmann presiding. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery Protivin, IA. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Protivin, and will continue for one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Eleanor Kriener Mracek was born June 28, 1924, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Kuennen) Kriener on the family farm near Fort Atkinson.

She graduated with her high school diploma from St. Lukes Catholic School in St. Lucas, IA. Eleanor was married to Reuben Mracek on September 22, 1947, at St. Lukes Catholic Church, St. Lucas. They farmed near Protivin their entire life. Eleanor enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and used her homegrown fruits and vegetables for canning. Gardening was a great joy which she looked forward to in the spring. Eleanor also enjoyed sewing, playing cards and making crafts. Spending time with her grandchildren gave her the greatest joy.

Eleanor was a member of the Holy Trinity Church in Protivin, Rosary Society, VFW Auxiliary and The Domestic Executives Club.

Eleanor is survived by her six children: Gary (Dana) Mracek, Onalaska, WI; Kevin (Cheryl) Mracek, Protivin; Kenny Mracek, Protivin; Mary (Mark) Schoborg, Marshalltown; Ann (Steve) Langlinais, LaFayette, LA; Mark (Sheila) Mracek, Decorah; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; her sister Anita Busta; her brothers Herman (Greta) Kriener; Conrad (Kathleen) Kriener; Peter (Diane) Kriener; Jerome (Madonna) Kriener; sisters-in-law Anastasia and Rosemary Kriener. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Reuben in 1993, and brothers Cyril, Ignatius, Leo, Linus, Francis, Lawrence and sister-in-law Pauline; brother-in-law Leonard Mracek, sister-in-law Wilma (Richard Lynch and Don Birkicht).
